All the menu options are gluttonous but each option is worth it. All burgers are double patties made with a Pat LaFrieda blend of short rib, brisket, and hanger steak, and are served rare, medium, or well only. You can substitute any burger with a turkey patty or a veggie patty. You can have it served alongside your choice of fries, sweet potato waffle fries, or side salad.
History of The Committed Pig
During the middle of the worst financial season in 2008, Jerry Rotunno got a financial break when he met his partner, Tony Monteiro through a craigslist ad. His partner, Tony was an investor, politician, accountant, and an Elizabeth native and seasoned restaurant owner who found Jerry’s outrageous ideas and determined attitude very promising. He took a chance on Jerry and this turned out to be a prosperous relationship for the two.
In 2009, they opened their first restaurant named ‘’Food’’ in Summit, NJ; it was an instant success, however, it was aimed at contemporary comfort food, gourmet burgers, and an a la carte brunch. Jerry was focused on having and using only the best ingredients as opposed to the other restaurants which were satisfied with local ingredients, so he got the famous Pat LaFrieda to deliver his goods to New Jersey after a lot of begging, as well as Allan Bros to have his own products flown in all the way from Oregon. So ‘’Food’’ became the first restaurant in the state to serve expertly prepared chop meat and the best cup of coffee Jerry had ever had.
