Navy Lakehurst Historical Society is a non-profit organization located at Lakehurst, a bourogh surrounded by Manchester city. It is close to interesting spots such as Lakehurst Historical Museum, Lakehurst Hangar 1, Brooksbrae Terracotta Brick Factory, Horicon Lake, and many more!
Its main goal is to preserve and interpret the story and heritage of Naval Air Station Lakehurst, and was founded in 1975. It is a site where many rigid airships like dirigibles or blimps were built in the 1920s & 1930s.
Even though Lakehurst is popular for the site where the Hindenburg accident happens, however, it is also famous as the place where significant events such as the rigid airships, Los Angeles, Shenandoah, & Akron have taken place. Moreover, it is also the center for research into aircraft injection.
Why was the Lakehurst Society created?
The non-profit organization named Navy Lakehurst Historical Society came on board for the following reasons:

Summary of the history behind the phrase “Oh, the humanity”.
“Oh, the humanity!” is an exclamation from Herbert Morrison’s sorrowful cry after a German dirigible Hindenburg crashed to earth with flames after exploding at the U.S. Naval Station in Lakehurst, New Jersey.
This accident happens to be the most deadly blimp crash ever since May 6, 1937. And it claimed a total of 36 life within a twinkle of an eye. There are a lot of reactions from broadcasters, as radio records were filled with mourning records like “oh, the humanity”, “it’s fire, and it’s crashing!”, and the like was the order of the day.
