The Lakewood Township Municipal Airport is a public airport that is located 6km (three nautical miles) southeast of Lakewood, Ocean County in the state of New Jersey. The Lakewood Airport is located in the epicenter of the township industrial park. The Airport is the abode of the pineland composite squadron of the civil air patrol with unit number NER-NJ-096.
Lakewood Airport covers and spans over 192 acres (78 HA) with an elevation point of 43 feet (13 m) above sea level. The township airport has one runway which has an asphalt surface that measures up to 2912 by 60 feet.
Lakewood Airport (FAA 3 digit designation N 12) is managed and operated by the Lakewood Township Airport authority. The township has already set in motion plans to have a terminal building with public meeting facilities a nice restaurant, emergency services facilities, and aircraft hangers. An observation area is another plan. In the summer the airport plans to introduce pleasure rides on planes and helicopters.
The number of resident aircraft at the airport has increased from a staggering 20 to over 70. Recreational activities at the airport include flying lessons, orientation flights, chatters, towers, transient parking, and other services. Services at the Lakewood Airport include the aviation charter patrol, Jersey Aeroclub (for flight training), and membership Monmouth Area Flying Club (flight training and membership) sightseeing rides in helicopters, and plenty others.
