Allaire State Park is a park located in Howell and Wall Township in the county of Monmouth, New Jersey. It is among the New Jersey coastal heritage trail route. The park spans an area of 3,205 acres and is operated and maintained by the New Jersey division of parks and forestry.
The park was created in 1940 and is known for its renovated 19th-century ironworks, Allaire village which is on the park premises. The park is an example of podzolic soil and this is as a result of its location in the coastal plain geographic region of New Jersey. This soil type is quite acidic and has a high concentration of iron particles. The park also hosts a tourist railroad; a narrow-gauge train ride called the pine creek railroad.
The park opens every day from 8 am to 6:00 pm while the park office opens from 8 am to 4:30 p.m. one-third of Allaire state park lies south of the Manasquan River and is on the northern fringe of the pinelands hence supporting a pine forest community.
Bird watchers will find different kinds of birds here, from spring migrating warblers to other songbirds and a variety of breeding birds like owls, vireos, etc. c. The river of Manasquan flows eastward through the park and seasonal canoe rentals are offered by private sellers off-site. The river of Manasquan is categorized as fresh water and people are welcome to fish, however, a fishing permit or license is required. On weekends in the summer, the park charges an entrance fee.
